Mobile, Mobile County and Baldwin County, Alabama
A sprawling river delta system north of Mobile Bay comprising countless rivers, creeks, bayous, and backwaters — the core market region for Crappie Fanatics coverage. See its named rivers, creeks, and bayous below for water-specific reports and conditions.
Target species
The Mobile-Tensaw Delta is less a single lake than a whole river system — a maze of rivers, creeks, bayous, and backwater lakes spreading north from Mobile Bay. Crappie Fanatics tracks it both as a whole and water-by-water, since conditions on the Tensaw River can look completely different from a quiet cut like Bayou Sara a few miles away.
The Delta is a river system, not a static lake, so conditions swing with upstream river stage and tidal influence near the Bay — a rainy stretch upriver can push additional current and stain water for days even under sunny Delta skies. That makes real-time reports more valuable here than on a stand-alone lake.
Spring pushes Delta crappie into the backs of bayous and shallow backwater cuts to spawn, often earlier than lakes farther inland since the Delta warms quickly. Summer and fall fish tend to relate to current breaks, creek mouths, and cypress-lined banks along the main river channels, sliding toward slower slack-water areas in winter.
Because the Delta covers so much water, the fastest way to zero in on where the bite is happening is to check reports for the specific river, creek, or bayou you're planning to fish — see the related Delta waters below, or check the live reports feed for this page.
